Challenge 103: String Theory - Moebius Strip

This week's challenge from the Diva is for Moebius Syndrome Awareness which is today, January 24th.  See the Diva's post to learn more about this syndrome that her son Artoo has.  I participated in this challenge last year as well and you can see that post here.  This time I decided to tangle the strip and tried to give some dimension with the different colored pearlz to the different sides of the strip.  It didn't turn out quite how I was thinking it would.  But hey, this is zentangle and there is no expectation, right?

Challenge 102: Duo Tangle Bunzo & Auraknot

This week's challenge from the Diva was a duo tangle with two tangles from the creators of zentangle Auraknot and Bunzo.  These are two tangles that I have tried before and felt like I didn't give enough time to.  I decided to give it another shot, watched the Auraknot video again and decided to try out my new nifty teal pen.

Martin Luther King Celebration

Yesterday I had the privilege of offering mini zentangle classes at the Peace Learning Center's Martin Luther King XCommunity Celebration.  It was a great day and a lot of fun.  My friend Wendy came along to help out and I couldn't have done it without her.  Thanks Wendy!!!  You can see from the pics below we had students of all ages tangling together and it was awesome.  We were located in the arts and crafts room where it was pretty loud and energetic but with each group of students we still got the wonderful moment of silence that comes over the group once they start tangling.

New Tangle: Spinstar

This tangle gets its name from the shape and the way you need to turn and turn and turn your tile to create it.  In the development phase it started out with straight instead of curved lines which I guess could be a tangleation of this one.  It has similarities to the official tangle fengle but does not have the S shape of the fengle arms and Spinstar is intended to be multi-layered.  There are so many tangles out there with all the great tanglers coming up with new ones everyday that it is hard to keep track.  Margaret Bremner, The Enthusiastic Artist (if you haven't checked out her blog I highly recommend it!)has started posting a disclaimer with her new tangles that I think I will adopt as well.  So if this name or this tangle has already been created by someone else, please let me know.  Thanks!

Challenge 101: UMT Phicops

The first challenge from the Diva this year was awesomely fun!  I love the new tangle Phicops.  I thought it would be hard at first but it was pretty easy and really is a beautiful tangle.  I will definitely be using this one a lot.

Project: Framed Zentangles

Leaving the holidays behind...plenty of time to craft and tangle ahead.  My first completed project of 2013 is this framed set of zentangles.  I had purchased the frame at Goodwill a long, long time ago and finally got around to sanding and repainting it.  I love this finish and I did it completely by accident.  The color is my current favorite and I happened to have a finished zentangle with a colored string sitting on my desk and I just knew they belonged together.  I have a few more projects in the works and will share them as I complete them.
